Revolutionary new biotechnologies are currently being
developed to improve crop pest, human disease vector, and
agricultural crop and human disease control. These
biotechnologies are at the forefront of science applied for
the benefit of mankind for food production and public
health protection.
An issue common to these new biotechnologies for crop pest
and human disease control is uncertain and undefined
regulatory pathways for approval before releases into the
environment may be made.
The Daegu Protocols are being developed to provide
guidance. The Protocols are expected to be presented for
approval at the Regulatory Issues Session of the Insect
Biotechnology and Industry (ICIBI2007) meeting
19-24 August 2007 in Daegu, Korea.

Ministries of Agriculture, scientists and government
regulatory officials from around the world are now being
recruited to participate in drafting of the "Daegu
Protocol." A drafting committee is now being formed to
develop a final version in time for the icibi2007 meeting
next 19-24 August 2006.
Each version of the Protocols will be listed here as
changes develop.
